Jersey Jam is a friendly low key open jam format for all levels of singers and musicians. We meet at the Robin's Nest in Linden, NJ which is a Blues Club. The majority of the songs performed as a courtesy to the venue are blues based. We go off the reservation though to perform Jazz, R&B, Rock, Funk, and some original material in addition to the blues. Usually each person attending the jam gets to call a 3-4 song set. We are looking to build a strong group of Poets, Spoken Word Artists, Songwriters and Slam Poets to get a North Jersey Poetry Slam series off the ground. There are three main venues in New York City that push this art form : Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Bowery Poetry Club, and LouderArts at Bar 13.
